Assigned to 39th Transportation Battalion, 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Kleber Kaserne, Germany. Died in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The incident is under investigation. No other information was released.
Army Pfc. Casey P. Mason Died November 13, 2007 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom 22, of Lake, Mich.; assigned to the 728th Military Police Battalion, 8th Military Police Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; died Nov. 13 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit using small-arms fire.
Army Spc. Darrion T. Hicks, 21, of Raleigh, North Carolina. Died July 19, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Bamberg, Germany. Died in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained from an enemy improvised explosive device.
Army Capt. Aaron D. Istre Died March 24, 2012 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom 37, of Vinton, La., assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Fort Hood, Texas; died March 24 in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Army SSG James R. Ide V, 32, of Festus, Missouri. Died August 29, 2010, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 230th Military Police Company, 95th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Sembach, Germany. Died of wounds sustained when hit by enemy small-arms fire during combat operations in Hyderabad, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Army SPC Nicholas A. Taylor, 20, of Berne, Indiana. Died July 16, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to Troop Command, Indiana Army National Guard, Indianapolis, Indiana. Died of injuries sustained when his vehicle was struck by enemy rocket propelled grenades in Wali Kot District, Afghanistan.
Army SSG. Robert A. Massarelli, 32, of Hamilton, Ohio. Died June 24, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 96th Transportation Company, 180th Transportation Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Fort Hood, Texas. Died of wounds suffered when the vehicle he was in was attacked in Kandahar, Afghanistan, by an enemy improvised explosive device.
Army SFC Richard S. Gottfried, 42, of Lake Ozark, Missouri. Died March 9, 2004, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Assigned to 1st Division Support Command, 1st Infantry Division, Kitzengen, Germany. Died of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat convoy operations on Main Supply Route-Tampa in southern Iraq.
Army MAJ Evan J. Mooldyk, 47, of Danville, California. Died January 12, 2011, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 19th Sustainment Command, 377th Theater Sustainment Command, Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Died in a non-combat related incident at Forward Operating Base Salerno, Khowst Province, Afghanistan. MAJ Mooldyk had complained of chest pain while exercising two days earlier and presumably died of a heart attack.
