Northwest, 4ft 0in x 6ft 10in, Late 19th Century. Standing apart for its elemental, iconic imagery and eccentric character, this is among the most memorable, truly primitive nomad antique rugs we have seen. Unusually rich natural hues interplay with undyed mocha brown sheep’s wool, imparting a rarely found sense of depth and presence to this Persian carpet. Strikingly personal horse and human figures join overscale bird forms in the margins of this intensely creative piece.
