Habitat 67, or simply Habitat, is a model community and housing complex in Montreal, Canada designed by Israeli–Canadian architect Moshe Safdie. Its interlocking forms, connected walkways and landscaped terraces were key in achieving Safdie's goal of a private and natural environment within the limits of a dense urban space. Outdoor space is the holy grail of New York real estate: incredibly desirable, incredibly hard to find. The owners of this Tribeca loft already had access to the roof, something that plenty of New Yorkers would kill for, but their architect took things to the next level with an ingenius solution that opens the entire space up to the outdoors.
