[Here is a second centering technique.  This technique uses a bit less force than the alternate technique as you focus more of your energy centering just the top of a cone vs trying to center the entire volume of clay simultaneously.  If you can center like this, you get the "throwing off the hump" setup for free!]

"Inspired by Nature" is probably the most common theme on Artist's statements ... but really ... how hard would it be NOT to find inspiration in the majesty of this beautiful blue planet of ours? I have realized that of late, my inspiration is coming from the hardier and less admired parts of Nature ... weeds. See her site for links to other clay artists.
