It is located near Shiraz, Iran. It is were national ceremonies occurred with reverence to Ahura-Mazda, the god of the Achaemenids' faith, Zoroastrianism. It was built c. 518-370 B.C. and was destroyed by Alexander the Great in 331 B.C.
