Labeled index lines (thick) and intermediate lines (thin) allow for approximate height at a given point. The shaped groups of contours represent hills, valleys, gullies and level land. The contours above illustrate a hill with a 754 meter high summit with no roads nor trails.
Keuka Outlet Trail Map West. (See Map East on my pin board). Between the villages of Penn Yan on Keuka Lake and Dresden on Seneca Lake, lies the Keuka Outlet Trail. The trail runs alongside the meandering Keuka Outlet. This was the historic Crooked Lake Canal (1833-1877) that once connected the lakes by dropping 270 feet over 8 miles through the ravine created by the Keuka Outlet Creek.
