Oriental breakfast | woke up to porridge cravings, thus quick grilled a miso paste marinated fillet, fried egg with preserved turnip (forgotten to put oil till egg was add to pot! But the effect turn out good), black bean paste with minced meat and a warm bowl of millet grains porridge. Smoothing home-prep food for us on a lazy day. At least, I know what am I eating.
Mapo tofu is a justly popular menu item in many Chinese restaurants. It is a quickly cooked dish of braised tofu with minced pork (sometimes beef) in a bracing spicy sauce made with fermented black beans and fermented broad bean paste, along with hot red pepper and Sichuan pepper. Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls--Can't think of what more to say that utterly fabulous. We loved EVERYTHING about this dish. My only recommendation is to add as much pepper as you can handle. We did that and the extra pepper flavor was perfection!
