Hitting, kicking, biting, and hair pulling are methods kids use when they feel helpless or frustrated because they can’t figure out how to get what they need or want. Many times when a child hits, kicks, bites, or pulls hair they are not trying to be mean. They are trying to get control of the situation. They want to feel powerful not helpless. In this unit, the P.O.W. superheroes teach kids that words have power to help them get what they need or want. P.O.W. = Power Of Words.
