Landscape Cape Cornwall By Linsey Williams Cape Cornwall (Cornish: Kilgoodh Ust, meaning "goose back of St Just") is a small headland in Cornwall, England, UK. It is four miles north of Land's End near the town of St Just. A cape is the point of land where two bodies of water meet and until the first Ordnance Survey, 200 years ago, it was thought that Cape Cornwall was the most westerly point in Cornwall.

CAPE CORNWALL | 'The National Trust car park sits just above the walk down to the beach; there are little fisherman’s huts littered along the edge, one of which is a small studio cultivated by the artist Kurt Jackson. A mile from the beach, lazing in the Atlantic are the Brisons – two giant rocks resembling Charles de Gaulle lying on his back.' ✫ღ⊰n

CAPE CORNWALL | 'The name Cape Cornwall appeared first on a maritime chart around the year 1600 and the original Cornish name "Kilgodh Ust" has fallen out of use. In English it translates to "goose-back at St Just", a reference to the shape of the cape. An alternative name, "Pen Kernow", is a recent translation of the English.' ✫ღ⊰n

ST JUST TO CAPE CORNWALL | 'After parking in St Just, this circular walk was a real treat in finding plenty of unexpected disused mines, quarries and buildings walking in amongst the now overgrown coastal landscape. The highlight of this walking route was at Cape Cornwall where we found some sea lions playing in the waves.' ✫ღ⊰n
