Willow Grove Hotel - Freemansburg, Pa - A little girl ghost haunts this Civil War-era hotel. Witnesses sayd she looks as if she had suffered from burns, and she has been seen in the rooms and the hallways. She sometimes pulls on the pant legs of men. No details of the little girl’s history are known.
Nicholson-Rand House - A Real Haunted House Indianapolis, IN This mansion in suburban Indianapolis was also known for many years as the Rand Family home and a ghost of a little girl who was killed in an accident near the house or haunted by the benign spirit of an old woman.
The Driskill Hotel, Austin - said to be haunted by the hotel's builder, Driskill. People can smell his cigar smoke and believe that he turns lights off and on. Also reported to haunt the hotel is the daughter of a senator who fell while playing on the hotel's stairs. People have reported seeing the ghost of a young girl in several areas of the hotel carrying a ball.
Hotel Bethlehem - Bethlehem, Pa - This “ghost-friendly” historic hotel offers ghost tours and “Room with a Boo!” ghost weekend packages. Among the spirits who reside here are a little girl who has been seen in a window, thought to be a former owner’s granddaughter, and a woman in period clothing who appears in the kitchen and dining room. Witnesses have reported apparitions, cold spots, shadows, reflections in mirrors and glass, and their names being called or their shoulder being tapped on.
Buck Hotel and Tavern - Jonestown, Pa - Built in 1804, there is much unknown about certain time periods in the hotel’s history. Several of the predominant spirits haunting the place are a young girl often seen walking the halls, an old man who likes to mess with water and electricity and a man who takes objects and moves them around.

When a loved one died the Victorians were presented with an opportunity to imortalise their beloved in a way that was previously impossible: they could photograph them. Because of the high cost of photography, post-mortem photographs were, in many cases, the only photograph a family had of the deceased.
