Whilst finishing up the piece I was trying to work out a way to 'fill' the space without actually filling it IYKWIM? So I imagined stitching circles but wasn't sure how it would look. Then suddenly I started seeing the pebble stitching on quilts and knew that it was exactly what this piece needed. Mine is handstitched, not machined, and I am so happy with the final result.
