Rebecca Daphne du Maurier Manderley Quote Book by BookishlyUK

One of my favorite books. It's a romance, a coming-of-age story, a mystery, a psychological thriller, and just really good.

Daphne du Maurier - she wrote Rebecca, and My Cousin Rachael, and The Scape Goat...and soooooo many more. Love her.

“Her voice dropped to a whisper. ‘Sometimes, when I walk along the corridor here, I fancy I hear her just behind me. That quick, light footstep. I could not mistake it anywhere. It’s almost as though I catch the sound of her dress sweeping the stairs as she comes down to dinner.’ She paused. She went on looking at me, watching my eyes. ‘Do you think she can see us, talking to one another now?’ she said slowly. ‘Do you think the dead come back and watch the living?’” -Rebecca (1938)

Lawrence Olivier and Joan Fontaine in "Rebecca." Flawless casting, they made a great couple.

"Rebecca:" Going Back to Manderley Again

Rebecca--Not only one of the best books, one of the best movies ever. I need to know about this.....

-Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca. Probably my favorite Hitchcock film. Laurence Olivier is one of my favorites and Joan Fontaine gives a great preformance.
