This bulletin board idea came after attending What’s New in Children’s Literature 2012 with Peggy Sharp. I used speech bubbles to highlight passages from different books in the library that made me laugh. I always include the call number on the book jacket so the books are easier for the students to find.
My granddaughter Briana recently asked me about a wrinkle in my forehead. I told her she put it there. (surprised expression in return...she's six) Then I went on to explain how I smile so much when I watch her play that the creases remain as a reminder so that when she's not with me, I can remember the smiles. Her smile in return was HUGE!
"I try to carry books with me wherever I go. Their weight has become like ballast against the churning sea of modern life, where so many real things are vanishing, and so many beautiful things are being made invisible..."
