Ray got his big break when his mentor Willis O'Brien called him to assist him in his New Picture that he was working on. That film was 1949's " MIGHTY JOE YOUNG " that picture put Ray on the map, and added another subject to the Oscars because the Film went on to win the Academy Award for Best Special Visual Effects the following March.
