The 400 year old Mancini Pearls. These pearls once belonged to Marie Mancini, niece of Cardinal Mazarin, chief minister of France. Marie had an affectionate relationship with King Louis XIV, which was stopped by her uncle. During the time of their relationship however, it is believed that the King gave her these earrings as a gift.
The Mancini Pearls Sold at Christie’s in 1969. Marie Mancini (1639-1715) was the niece of Cardinal Mazarin, the prime minister to King Louis XIV of France and in love with the Young king. His mother opposed to the romance.
