Mentha aquatica, aquatic mint, has a minty-fresh fragrance and lots of lilac to lavender-pink flowers that attract butterflies and butterflies. It tolerates full sun to partial shade and is hardy in zones 5 to 11. Use aquatic mint in the moist soil around your pond or grow it in water up to 2 inches deep.
ROYAL PICKEREL RUSH grows large blue bottle brush flowers that attracts butterflies and bees. This marginal pond plant comes back each year. Grows in moist soil or potted in heavy soil with water depth up to 10" inches deep. Pickerel Rush grows 24"-32" inches tall and spreads 12"-26" inches wide. Leaves are a shiny green and heart shaped.
