Two Worcester teapots and covers, circa 1765-70 both of globular form, one painted in the 'Kempthorne' pattern, the other painted with six Compagnie des Indes- type flower sprays within iron-red borders, the cover surmounted with a flower finial, the first with square mark in underglaze-blue, the 'Kempthorne' pattern

Provenance: English Private Collection A rare Worcester globular teapot and cover, with loop handle and flower knop, finely outside decorated in coloured enamels, probably in the London atelier of James Giles, with a golden carp, and three iron red carp, amidst grisaille seaweed and scattered flowers, the gilt branch and leaf border with stylised trailing puce and blue flowers, 5 3/4" high, circa 1765, no mark We can find no record of a comparable teapot
