The basics of Nuno felting tutorial. Nuno Felting is blending 2 fibers- silk and wool. Members made their own Nuno Felt scarves in today's Art Workshop.

Using Nuno felting techniques and cotton cheesecloth, create lovely lacy scarves and wraps to wear year round. During the felting process, wool fibers migrate through the loose weave cotton scrim and entangle. The wool eventually shrinks, pulling the scrim along with it which results in an incredibly lightweight garment that drapes the body beautifully. Scarf designed and made by Marina Shkolnik, a self-taught designer from Moscow, using a technique called nuno felting. Nuno felting is a fabric felting technique developed by Polly Stirling, a fiber artist from New South Wales, Australia, around 1992. The technique bonds loose fibre, usually wool, into a sheer fabric such as silk gauze, creating a lightweight felt.
