Wes (Wesley) Studi, famous Native American actor (The Last of the Mohicans), was born in Nofire Hollow, Oklahoma, the son of Maggie, a housekeeper, and Andy Studi, a ranch hand. Studi was schooled at Chilocco Indian Agricultural School in Northern Oklahoma. Until he attended grade school, he spoke only Cherokee. In 1967, he was drafted into the Army and served 18 months in Vietnam.

Chief Dan George, OC (July 24, 1899–September 23, 1981) was a chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, a Coast Salish band located on Burrard Inlet in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was also an author, poet, and an Academy Award-nominated actor. ~~ ok, not American :)
