What are some of your goals? One thing I learned and continuously practice is the habit of setting goals. This is not only in my personal life but also for my creativity. . On my white board stuck on my fridge, I have a set of things I'd like to try written down for my art. Things like - "try more motion", "try more vibrant colours" Then, next to my computer, I have things I should do with my life "eat breakfast everyday" or "spend at least 10 minutes a day working out". . What I've…

Day 23 of #MarchMeetTheMaker is recent make and this is a very recent make. I've been trying a new way of working this week firstly with the pencil tool in illustrator rather than the pen tool which I find is a looser way of drawing and have been working in grey scale so that I don't get too hung up on colours until I'm happy with the drawing. So this is today's work in progress. I quite like the greyscale against the pink so before I colour this up and tweak it for the rest of time I…

colour_me_creative: A few of you have been asking for me to post my new profile picture! My previous profile picture I'd had since I started this account and thought it was about time for a change ☺️ This photo was taken in my hometown in New Zealand and similar to the last photo I decided to draw parts of my hair ✏️💕 Hope you like it!

Soldier carries the horror of war with him Señor Salme - Salme's an illustrator who uses quite flat colours; a lot of my own work reflects this style and I'd like to keep it relatively simple. I really like the sketchy shading too, which adds a traditional slant and is often fashionable with tarot card design.

One idea for how I'd like my new tattoo to look. I like the watercolur look, the swirls and the colourful sea life. I'm very open to opinions and ideas. I am not an artist and when I look at what I did above it looks like the starfish is actually running away from Bubbles :) (FYI: I used the watercolor painting by Angela Taratuta - cut-out one fish and re-coloured the other, the seahorse by Si Scott, and starfish drawing by IrinaKrivoruchko - traced colour over the drawings and added my own…

Another bit of exposed construction on coloured card... This is from the ceiling of he entran d of Madrassa Attarine in Fes. I'd not seen a partner like it before and happily dashed home to our Riad and got to deconstructing. I did it wrong a few times and then painted it in wacky colours too. Good to revisit it and do a more decent version... although even this had its shady moments. #islamicgeometry #islamicart #islamicpattern #geometry #pattern #geometricpattern #compassandruler #drawing…

A quick and rather rough drawing — I'd like to flesh this out with scenery and colours, and other swimmers arriving in the background. There is actually a scene I'm planning in the story like this. http://karengillmoreart.com
