Make Some Thing: Black-Out Poetry @ Berkley Public Library September 30, 2015 In celebration of Banned Books Week, we will engage in a little "creative censoring" of our own, taking pages of existing text and redacting all the words we don't want to keep to create our own, new poetic creations! All teens welcome
When I say 'Be creative,' I don't mean that you should all go and become great painters and great poets. I simply mean, 'Let your life be a painting, let your life be a poem.' – Like No Other: Dreamers of the Day | Wonderfully stated, beautifully presented on a lovely website. You should visit and enjoy the many treats for your senses. (not an endorsement with any remuneration whatsoever). I just really liked it. Go look!
Sight word poems - Could change it up for Gr 1 by having the kids suggest their own animals (for all but the bee!) and draw or attach pictures to go with their ideas eg. I am not a walrus; I am not a bee; I am not an elephant; I am me!
