Explore Colossus, Places To Visit and more!

Shrouded within the park of Francesco I de’ Medici's Villa Demidoff (just north of Florence, Italy), sits the 16th century Giambologna sculpture the Appennine Colossus. It recalls the figure of Atlas in Virgil’s Aeneid and once stood amidst other bronze statues, but this massive brick and stone structure withstood centuries in the same spot, managing to maintain its figurative composition in all that time.

There are always more places to see than places I have already seen; each new place I visit just inspires me to think of ten more.

While planning the trip I didn't know what it would be like to see it. Incredible feeling to see this type of historical monument.
