Greenwood Lake was fortunate to have a group of people who formed the heart of the community. These WWII vets were among them. They were our dads, village officials, electricians, and plumbers. They were our role models.
Ray Cole, Principal of GWL School during my last several years there and the leaders of the village at the dedication of the 1965 or so expansion of the school. It started as a three room stone building when I was in kindergarten, expanded by six or so rooms in 1953 and was extended again as the village population grew.
