Danu is said to have literally suckled the gods. In Irish mythology, she is mother of the earth, the gods, fertility, wisdom, wind and of all the Celtic people. The story of Danu lingers with her offspring, Tuatha De Danann, or people of the goddess Danu, who in Irish folklore are known as the fairy people who are skilled in magic. Boann Boann, Aengus's mother, was told about this young lady. She decided to search the entire island of Ireland. After one year of searching she still had not found her. However Aengus did not give up hope yet!
Samhain (Halloween) marks the beginning of the Celtic new year - with the dark of winter preceding the returning of the light in spring, just as their day began at nightfall, and not sunrise - and was celebrated over a period of three days.
