Iraqs military reports bombing a convoy carrying Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The group was headed to a meeting in the western Al Anbar Governorate close to the Syrian border. Eight ISIS senior figures were killed but al-Baghdadi did not appear to be among them. Full Story

Dennis Hastert former United States Speaker of the House of Representatives (1999-2007) pleaded guilty to a federal financial crime in a hush money case stemming from sexual misconduct allegations. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 29 2016. The crime carries a sentence of up to five years in prison and $250000 fine. Prosecutors recommend zero to six months imprisonment.

Additional search and rescue efforts take place in the American city of Columbia South Carolina. The citys rainfall on Sunday totaled a record 6.87 inches in this 1-in-1000-year event. In South Carolina nine people are now reported dead in weather-related incidents and millions remain homebound.
