Vintage Turkish tribal kilim rug handwoven in 1960's in the Mut region of the Taurus Mountains by the Taurus Yoruks who are migratory people of Central Asian origin. The weavings of these Yoruks are strong in design and substance, as befits the lifestyle of their makers. Tight slitweave is used, so that the designs do not contain any long vertical slits; this, together with the thick warps and wefts, results in a substantial and hardwearing textile.
