Postcard showing 'Herring Lasses off Duty' - two typical 'Scotch' Girls (as they were known) off duty, knitting needles in hands. This was a regular sight in town, seeing them walking around town, knitting and chatting as they went. Every spare moment was taken up with knitting when they weren't packing the fish barrels.
