The Crested Barbet is an aptly named species of Southern and Central African woodlands. Its nickname of “Fruit-salad” bears witness to its rather random pattern of red, yellow, black and white. The Barbets descend from the same order 'Piciformes' as woodpeckers and toucans, insect eaters.
