Sandhill Cranes {We had a pair of Sandhill Cranes chase us away in our canoe on a lake in Northern Michigan. They can make quite a racket! We didn't know they had chicks with them and we got too close for their comfort. JF}

The Kori Bustard may be the heaviest bird capable of flight. It is found throughout southern Africa, except in densely wooded areas.

The Hoopoe  is a colourful bird found across Afro-Eurasia, notable for its distinctive "crown" of feathers. It is the only extant species in the family Upupidae. One insular species, the Saint Helena hoopoe, is extinct, and the Madagascar subspecies of the hoopoe is sometimes elevated to a full species.
