Heart Block Poem

The Heart Block Poem was a great mnemonic when I was learning heart rhythms. It helps you to remember the different types of heart blocks and how to detect them on the monitor.

Early, variable, late decels. Early = reassuring, variable = cord compression, late = decreased o2 to fetus. Late decels start after peak of contration and go on even after contraction ended. Early decels start before or start of contraction and end when contraction ends. Variable occurs whenever, it's related to pressure on the cord cause it's not occuring during contraction so baby may have kicked it or pressed against it or possibly prolapse if doesn't return to normal - Lily
