One of the more popular swimming spots on Rottnest "The Basin". Located within walking distance from the ferry landing day trippers can make in there for a swim, spend a few hours and make it back to the ferry for the late afternoon run back to the mainland.
One of the most spectacular features of the planet: the dunes of the Namib Sand Sea. The highest linear dunes show smaller linear dunes riding along their crests. Linear dunes are generally aligned parallel to the formative wind—in this case, strong winds from the south. Southerly winds explain the parallel north-aligned linear dunes on the left side of the image. But that pattern is disrupted near the Tsondab valley which acts as a funnel for winds from the east.
