Coreopsis by Bernadine Hine. This is my statement: Every spring these Coreopsis grow freely by the roadside in the Glasshouse Mountains area. They are an introduced species, now a weed that has escaped the control of gardeners to proliferate unhindered as and when they please, defying the attempts of humans to control them. They raise their cheerful yellow faces skyward, attracting the local bees to feed on their offerings in a symbiotic relationship of freely giving to each other.
