The West Comet - Comet West whose official names are C/1975 V1, 1976 VI, and 1975n, was a comet which, according to some experts, should be considered in the category of "great Comet" and has been discovered in photographs taken by Richard Martin West on August 10, 1975, but reached its most brilliant moment in March 1976. During its time of maximum segments, observers reported that it was bright enough to carry out studies on the full light of day.

The #Nebula78 is a reflection nebula in the #ConstellationOrion. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1780 and included by Charles Messier in his catalog of comet-like objects that same year. M78 is the brightest diffuse reflection nebula of a group of nebulae that include NGC 2064, NGC 2067 and NGC 2071. This group belongs to the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex and is about 1,600 light years distant from Earth. M78 is easily found in small telescopes as a hazy patch..
