St. Sava Orthodox Cathedral, 25th Street, Flatiron District, in New York City. Designed in c.1850 by Richard Upjohn. The church where the American Gilded Age author, Edith Wharton, (maiden name, Jones), was married to Edward Wharton, in c.1885. The church was then called, Trinity Episcopal Chapel. Edith Wharton in her novel, "The Age of Innocence", describes life during The Gilded Age, in NYC. ~ A tragic fire took place on May 1st, 2016, destroying this beautiful and historic edifice…
