Palo Duro Canyon State Park, in the panhandle south of Amarillo, is the "Grand Canyon" of Texas. The Canyon is 120 miles long, as much as 20 miles wide, and has a maximum depth of more than 800 feet. Its elevation at the rim is 3,500 feet above sea level. It is the second largest canyon in the United States.
Skip the boat, and take a stroll. As the longest linear urban park in America, San Antonio�s River Walk abounds with recreational features -- these include over 15 miles of hike and bike trails, 6 foot bridges, picnic tables, overlooks and river-edge landings.
