Maurice de Vlaminck (French, Fauvism, 1876–1958): Poplars, c. 1908. Oil on canvas, 73 x 92 cm. Private Collection. Though Henri Matisse and André Derain were predominant among the group of artists working in the style of "les Fauves" ("the wild beasts"), Vlaminck was a principal figure in the Fauvism Movement (1904-1908).
