Perhaps one of the most genuine groups on Duck Down Music Inc., O.G.C. (Originoo Gunn Clappaz) have been holding it down since day one. Not to be fooled by their youthful appearances, with more aliases than shells held in the clip of 9MM pistol, the trio: Starang Wondah (aka Gunn Clappa Numba One, Big Will, Hurricane Starang, and Da Beast From Da East); Louville Sluggah (aka Gunn Clappa Numba Two, Hennyville Guzzler, Henny); and Top Dog (aka Gunn Clappa Numba Three, Big Kahuna, D-O)
Sonny Stitt (1953) [b.1924 - d.1982] No one had a harder time dealing with Charlie Parker's legacy than this superb musician, whose sound and ideas on alto sax sounded so much like Bird's that he switched to tenor in order to be seen and heard as his own man.
Pictured above is John Coltrane playing the flute. Eric Dolphy’s mother gave Coltrane his instruments shortly after Dolphy died. Coltrane later on played the flute and bass clarinet in honor of Dolphy. You can hear Coltrane playing the bass clarinet on his Live in Japan album.
