Abandoned Gartloch Mental Hospital (now demolished) was open in 1896 and closed in 1996. The main administration building still remains and is popular destination for urban explorers. Topeka state Hospital opened in 1872, with rumors of horrible abuse shortly after opening. Rumors included rapes and patients confined in straps for so long that their skin began to grow around the straps. Closed in 1997 its cemetery holds1,157 individuals.

Weston State Hospital: One of the scariest haunted hospitals. The hospital is the second largest hand cut stone building in the United States. The hospital was built to hold 250 mentally ill patients. In 1950 the patients numbered 2400. Many were tormented, tortured and believed to be murdered there. Charles Manson once was a resident there. The asylum closed in 1994.
