Replica of late 1913 French evening, reception, or dinner gown, made as described in the original French text -- emerald green silk satin, off-white silk chiffon, and hand-beading (I used the original antique beading design). Underlined in light emerald fine China silk, ivory taffeta silk boned under-bodice, off-white China silk lining to around knee length. Made for the ROM's 100th anniversary. Evening gown, ca. 1914. Inspired by French couturiers such as Paul Poiret, this elegant silk faille taffeta gown is embellished with beading, embroidery, and contrasting fabrics. The inner woven waistband has the names of two merchants: Donaldson's of Minneapolis and Glanville's of Calgary. Both were sources of high-end garments such as this one. Glenbow Museum.
