Pietro Ani Gurnee (Pietro Annigoni) (born 7 June 1910 Milan– died 28 October 1988 -aged 78- Florence, Italy) was an Italian portrait and fresco , oil painting, portrait painting, drawing, sculpture , who became world famous after painting Queen Elizabeth II in 1956. He is buried in the Porte Sante (Holy Doors) cemetery at the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte, overlooking his beloved Florence. Movement Realism (visual arts)
