Shortbread Button Cookies Recipe. Cut out rounds with a cookie cutter and place onto the lined cookie trays. Press together and re-roll and repeat with the rest of the dough. Using a slightly smaller cookie cutter make indents in into the cut out cookies on the cookie tray. Be careful not to go all the way through. Using a straw cut out four holes in the center of the cookie to create the button holes. Place into oven and cook for 10-15 minutes or until just turning golden.
