Theodolite. Bavaria, 16th century. Gilt and silvered brass, partly enamelled. Signed and dated ”HOC OPVS FECIT VDVLRICVS SCHNIEP DE MONACO ANNO *1566*” [This work is made by Ulrich Schniep of Munich in the year 1566]. Circular base with compass and a foldable, hinged dial and alidade, combined with sundials. Richly engraved with scales, zodiacal signs, city names and fretwork. Height in total: 13‑17 cm. Diameter: 15 cm.
