Charles Worth was hired as a salesman in 1847 by the renowned Gagelin magasin de nouveautés, Paris, which specialized in the sale of fabrics, shawls, embroideries and laces to privileged clientele. In 1850 he started using a sales woman, Marie Vernet as a model as he began to design simple dresses for her that were meant to show off the wares at Gagelin. Later his wife, she continued to introduce his increasingly in-demand designs both in the shop and at events around Paris.
To generalise a moran’s fashion you have a kikoy, a Kenyan sarong that is the main clothing, a beaded belt that will hold a long knife, and strings of beads that will crisscross his chest (an important sign of being a moran). He will wear numerous beaded bracelets on his wrists, on his elbow a beaded leather strap (another important mark of a moran). Notched body markings will be made with thorns and a knife | SamburuTrust.org #world_cultures
