In her San Diego tank, Kasatka reigns supreme, showing dominance over her nine orca tank mates. Because she has extended this dominant behavior to her human trainers (including taking a trainer to the bottom of her tank against his will) trainers no longer enter the water with her. She is a mother of four and grandmother of three, and the ultimate matriarch of captive orcas. Source: www.52orcas.com
SeaWorld San Diego's Killer Whale mom Kasatka, estimated to be 37 years old, gave birth on Valentines Day to a healthy calf at Shamu Stadium under the watchful eyes of SeaWorld’s zoological team members. The birth marked the sixth successful killer whale to be born at SeaWorld San Diego. He’s already learned to swim upside down, proving himself to be a bit of a show-boat!!!
Nakai, Kasatka and Orkid. After my 2011 trip, I made a promise to never step foot past the front gates of a Sea World ever again. No way are they going to treat wild animals like this and get my support. Hell no.
