The whole region of Fife is steeped in fascinating history and for those interested in Scotland's past a visit to Dunfermline, the former Scottish capital, is a must. Previously a seat of royal power with connections to Kings, Queens, Saints; the birthplace of the famous philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, and the burial place of King Robert the Bruce, I get surprised at how often this historically rich and important town is overlooked on the tourist trail.
This monument marks the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard in 1745 known as the Jacobite Rising. Set amidst superb Highland scenery at the head of Loch Shiel, Near Fort William. The Glenfinnan Monument is a tribute to the clansmen who fought and died for the cause of Prince Charles Edward Stuart.
