VIOLACEOUS TROGON (Trogon violaceus) - Found in forests in east-central Mexico, south through Central America to north-western South America. It feeds on fruit and, to a lesser extent, on insects. They are cavity nesters. Nests are dug into rotting wood, termite nests and wasp nests. It will consume wasps and wasp larvae encountered while digging nests. by Alex Thomson13, via Flickr
