Folk Art hooked rug - New England, c. 1880 Wool fabrics 40 1/2 x 36 inches The folk artist of this beautiful and colorful hooked rug places two facing horses in the center, bordered by four large stars and a horseshoe in each corner. The artist may be expressing that if the stars align and good luck prevails that these two horses will be successful at whatever they want to accomplish. The wonderful striated background and block border add to the dynamics of this rug.
