20 All those who do evil things hate the light and will not come to the light, because they do not want their evil deeds to be shown up. 21 But those who do what is true come to the light in order that the light may show that what they did was in obedience to God. (John 3:20 GNB)
"May it never be said that Jesuss call to come and die with him has no positive incentive. Everything he says in Mark 8:3438 is a passionate argument not to throw away our eternal lives for the sake of a few years of human wealth and glory. He is pleading with us to 'save our lives' (verse 35) in eternity by losing them in this world just like he said in John 12:25: 'Whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.' He is pleading with us not to be deceived by the lie…
I love reading about the call on Moses' life. Exodus 3:11 is his immediate response to God's order to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses says "Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?" Moses was giving an expression here of inadequacy for such a serious mission. He was just a mere shepherd in Midian what could he do? But God's calling on our life has nothing to do with us.
