Egyptian Mummification Started 1500 Years Earlier Than Thought Researchers from the Universities of York, Macquarie and Oxford have discovered new evidence to suggest that the origins of mummification started in ancient Egypt 1,500 years earlier than previously thought.

Menat of Taharqo, Late Period, Dynasty 25, reign of Taharqo, ca. 690–664 b.c. This faience menat represents part of a heavy necklace carried in ritual scenes. Menat was Egyptian artifact which, like the sistrum, was closely connected with the goddess Hathor. It was held in the hand by its counterpoise and used as a rattle by Hathor's priestesses. Often it was worn as a protective amulet, even by Apis bulls, the sons of Hathor.

This is easily my favourite piece of Art from Egypt or any where else. This is the Throne of Tutankhamun and the beautiful image depicts the Boy-King and his Queen Ankhesenamun in a touching moment. The young Queen is helping her husband to adjust his collar. The King reclines casually on his seat and the two seem completely at ease with eachother.
