Life before Antibiotics (and before air conditioning) -- Physical Culture Magazine, Oct 1917, ad for a "sleeping porch" to be attached to an existing house. The "baby cages" for city apartments were not this big! Note that night air is "especially necessary" for treating Consumption.
Physical Culture, 1915. Illustration by Joseph Leyendecker. Leyendecker was the premier cover illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post for almost 50 years, and perhaps the most famous illustrator of his time. Leyendecker’s lifetime companion, Charles Beach, was often a model for his illustrations, and posed for his most famous image, the “Arrow Man” shirt advertisements.
